It belongs to an unwritten ambition of musicians to offer their audience new surprises, try out things that has never been tried, compare what has never been compared. They like to come back to the methods common in the past and to experiment with the current expressive means. The origin of the Affetto ensemble ensued from our common interest in looking for new ways and possibilities of the chamber vocal interpretation in the dramaturgistic and expressive sense. We believe that singing as the most natural music expression provides inexhaustible scope of the subtle mood and feelings rendering that is hidden in the compositions by authors of all historical periods. A rich menu of the persuasive music performance colourful in expression, music that reflects more or less remote times, is a challenge for us towards the looking for the various sound, colour and emotional nuances of the male polyphony. When using a dramaturgistic principle of contrast, we turn our attention towards the medieval music and the oldest Czech records. We sing compositions by baroque authors and also contemporary compositors write for us (M. Košut, M. Nytra, M. Štědroň). We do no hesitate to cross the borders of the music genres and we include spirituals in our programmes and less usual arrangements of the modern works. We are trying for our concerts to be an evidence of the music - mainly vocal - being always and in all her forms prepared to address the innermost emotions of every listener and interpret.
